Widget branding
Branding gives you full visual control over the widget. It is a Pro plan feature — Starter and Growth use the default Sam look with their primary colour applied. Trial users get full branding access during their 7-day evaluation.
Hide “Powered by Sam”
By default, the widget shows a small “Powered by Sam” footer in the chat window. Toggle this off to remove it entirely. Common when:
- You’re white-labelling Sam under your own brand
- The footer doesn’t fit your visual style
- You want a cleaner widget for high-end brand sites
Custom colour palette
With Pro, you control every colour in the widget, not just the primary accent:
| Colour | What it controls |
|---|---|
| Header background | The top bar of the open chat window |
| Message background | The chat thread background |
| Input background | The message input area |
| Text — primary | Headings and bot reply text |
| Text — muted | Timestamps, metadata, status text |
| Border | Dividers and outlines inside the widget |
| Live dot indicator | The “online now” pulse next to the bot name |
| Bot bubble background / text | Sam’s reply bubbles |
| User bubble background / text | The visitor’s message bubbles |
| Status text | The “online” / “offline” label |
Every colour takes a hex value. Sam doesn’t validate readability for you — pick contrasts you’d be happy reading on a long thread.
Pairing with appearance
The Appearance primary colour and the branding palette work together. Many Pro customers set:
- Appearance → primary colour to their brand CTA colour
- Branding palette to muted versions of their brand for backgrounds and text
so the launcher pops while the open chat feels integrated.
Default theme reference
If you want a starting point, the default Sam theme is:

It’s gated to Pro. Starter and Growth see the section disabled with an upgrade prompt. Upgrade in Billing to unlock. (Trial users see the full Branding section during their 7-day evaluation.)
