Install Sam on Squarespace

This guide covers installing Sam on Squarespace using the built-in Code Injection feature.

Prerequisites

  • Squarespace Business / Commerce / Advanced Commerce plan
  • Owner or Contributor access to your site
  • A Sam account at viasam.app
  • Your Sam API token

Step 1 — Open Code Injection

  1. In your Squarespace dashboard go to Settings.
  2. Click Advanced.
  3. Click Code Injection.

Step 2 — Paste the snippet

In the Footer field, paste:

<script src="https://cdn.viasam.app/v1/widget.js" data-api-key="YOUR_API_KEY" defer></script>

Replace YOUR_API_KEY with your actual token (or copy the pre-filled snippet from your Sam dashboard → Widgets → Install your widget → Squarespace).

Step 3 — Save

Click Save in the top-right.

Step 4 — Verify

Open your site in a new browser tab. The Sam widget should appear in the corner you configured.

Troubleshooting

Widget doesn’t appear. Squarespace caches HTML aggressively — wait a minute and reload in an incognito window. If it still doesn’t appear, return to Code Injection and confirm the snippet is in the Footer field, not Header.

Code Injection field is missing. Your site is on a Personal plan. Upgrade to Business to enable Code Injection.

Widget appears on the homepage but not on other pages. That shouldn’t happen with the Footer field — it injects on every page. If you put the code in a Page Header Code Injection (per-page), it’ll only show on that page.
